First I’d like to acknowledge that it’s hard to come by a nice fabric store with a large inentory of fabrics, sewing notions, patterns etc. .
Joann’s is the only fabric stores far and wide. I’m in Virginia. But the one thing I’ve noticed is this: most definitely their prices are unbelievably inflated to the point that if you’re lucky enough to have a coupons to use it may, mind you MAY, bring the price down to manufacturer list price or at least some resemblance to a reasonable cost. I just impulsively bought a nice (I hope) OttLite lamp that they have as $150 reg price.
OttLite’s list on the same lamp is $120.
(You know dang well Joann Stores are getting some reseller discounts on these so mark up is through the roof.) I’ll try to remember this myself when I go into one of the stores before I start being that child in a candy store. Sewing gadgets and fabric are so much fun but, good gosh, what ridiculously over inflated pricing.
