Review about Unprofessional Employees from Baton Rouge, Louisiana | Joann Fabric review

The employees were unprofessional and disorganized. The manager showed obvious preference to someone purchasing 40 yards of fabric over my 5 yards. This place is ruined for me.

Expect long lines, and get over it (or they want you to.) | Joann Fabric review from Denver, Colorado

As a Jo-Anns Fabric and Craft Stores employee, quit your crying. The paradigm is less is more. Less staff and still more money. You will stand in all the lines, you will still buy and you will not say much, nor do they care. Do your due diligence and see who owns this company. You'll get the same service (or lack thereof) at The Container Store, Sports Authority, Lord & Taylor, etc. There will be at minimum three staffers, they do not make the schedule, please be nice, s/he are trying her/his best. Some guests are "high maintenance." Follow the money. It's yours and will be theirs because where else will you go? Customer service number is 1-888-739-4120, you will be directed to a district manager, ask for the regional vice-president/director's number. Go to www.joann.com and fill your complaint online, along with voice contact. If you call, ask for the the survey website (sorry I don't have that info readily,) and fill out the short survey.

This woman is complaining about corporate, not customers. The company wants your money and doesn't care if they cut their employees' hours, which results in longer lines & frustration for you.

I would write you up if I was your boss. You can think whatever you like about your job but if you don't like it, leave.

Yes the shortage of hours sucks, yes some customers can give you a hard time. THAT'S LIFE! Your job is to smile, be polite, help the customer, and do it all quickly.

If it wasn't for the customers (even the rude ones who still buy something which gives the stores more hours) you wouldn't have a job anyways. And before you start telling me that I am just another rude customer I have worked for this company in stores for 4 years now (starting with being a seasonal part time team member).

Once the survey is filled out and gets to their district manager. A nasty email comes to the store.

That's when the employees are blamed for all the under-staffing.

They will be told that they are unproductive, have no sense of urgency, and to suck it up. Don't shop there if you are in a hurry.

"I know the Department of Weights and Measure over sees this and it can result in fines levied and stores being closed."

You have no idea what you're talking about, that's not what they do.

On July 1, 2014, I purchased 8 skeins of Lion Brand Homespun yarn at the Joann's in Shawnee, OK. I had already researched the yarn and pricing at their online website, so I knew the yarn was on sale for $4.99 (regular $6.99). I was charged full price and told that...

Go shop elsewhere. Believe me when I tell you that Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, LLC will not miss your business.

In fact, they are going to be much better off without you.

Go die, you old withered hag.

If they are going to hire managers then they need to do that outside of the workplace, not within. The ones they hire have no experience, not at all professional. | Joann Fabric review from Bayonet Point, Florida

Once they have that meaningless title, they like to sit in the office for hours on end gabbing, but also talking about every employee very badly. They also like to just pass the buck which makes their job very easy and they are the ones getting paid pretty dam good for doing very little. They put the work load on a couple of employees only, but also cut those two employees hours more and more each week and give them hours to all the new hires that have no knowledge of the job and they don't even bother to properly train them. Come Monday, I will be contacting the district manager, the corporate office and a Florida Labor Attorney about this particular store of what goes on there with these two so called, if you even want to call them A member of management. They are really picking them from the bottom of the barrel these days. In my opinion, a happy employee? Results!!!!!! A happy customer. And what the corporate office needs to understand is without the customers and employees there would be no Joann's. FACT!!

This is absolutely not every store. This is not how I run my store but I do believe that there are some out there.

My employees simply help to finish the work. Management however are the ones responsible for completing it and we do so. If you are an employee, talk to the DTL.

If you are a customer, call the customer service line. Just please understand that it is not the employees fault, they are just trying to keep their job.

Review about Store Policy | Joann Fabric review from Port Moody, British Columbia

I have been a long time customer of Joannes. My favorite store is in Scottsdale, Arizona. I've always enjoyed browsing the aisles with my dog in the cart and leaving the store with tons of treasures! My last visit to the store, however, was a total disaster! It started off the same. My little hairless, Chinese crested dog was in the cart, I was happily shopping the aisles, chatting with people who noticed the dog, commenting on how cute and well behaved she was...including one of the staff members! Soon afterwards, however, a staff member approached me, telling me that no dog was allowed in the store unless it was a service dog. When did that happen? And why? Was I supposed to leave my dog out in the 105° heat? Or simply not shop there when it was too hot to leave my dog in the car? So I headed for the cash register and lined up. When it was my turn to approach a cashier she held up her hand and said don't come near me with that dog! I was a little bit shocked and a whole lot embarrassed! I had to wait longer for the next cashier. There were no smiles going around. It was a really bad shopping experience! My very first bad shopping experience at Joannes and… my last! I am not going back to the store where my dog is not welcome. And, where I was obviously not very welcome either. Is the no dog policy a new one or one that just recently being enforced? Either way, banning "man's best friend" is an unhealthy policy in our fiscal climate! Especially, since there's no real reason to have a policy like that. Please let me know when the policy changes… I would love to shop at Joannes again. Until then, both I and my friends with dogs will shop elsewhere. Michael's...here we come!
