An explanation (not an excuse) for the customer who pointed out that the windows were dirty and the bathrooms were gross:

Joann requires the cashier (one person) to complete the following chores before 9:30pm (the store closes at 9pm): clean the windows, vacuum the foyer, empty all trashcans, sweep behind the register area and sweep the ENTIRE STORE, and clean BOTH restrooms. This is an hour an a half of work, so you need to start cleaning at 8pm.

Obviously you cannot leave the register to clean the bathroom until after closing. You are supposed to clean the mirrors, wipe down all surfaces, clean the toilets/urinals, and empty the trash. If you are busy, sometimes you dont have time to do all of this cleaning. If you are LAZY, people will lollygag and then act like they just didnt have time to do their chores.

Also, in between helping customers check out, you are expected to stock new items, and walk every aisle "recovering" the store which means making sure each aisle looks clean and tidy. It is a lot of work. I love working there, but they really need more staff!, which they wont allow, bc the hours you are allotted to work with for that week are based on sales from the prior week. Still, not an excuse to not clean the windows or the bathroom!

If you really dont have time to sweep the store i understand, but it takes five minutes to clean the windows, and ten minutes to clean the bathrooms.

If it is not done, the opening manager (who is supposed to do a "good store walk" every morning, should clean, and then find out WHY whoever was working did not get it done. If you have an employee with no hustle, they should be fired!

Don't think they stand behind THEIR RETURN POLICY. Just try to return fabric. I was told when I bought it could be returned. I lost my receipt but it was still on the bolt with the Joanns bag on it. I asked for store credit. As stated in their return policy. They said no. They even carry the same fabric. So it's not old or out of date. Johanns is not an honest company. Stand behind your policy.

Joann Fabric - Manager Review from Sacramento, California

I am very disappointed the way i was treated by your store manager Bill at the 5425 Sunrise Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA 95610, joanns. I went there on 9/4/16 after 6pm to buy some overlock thread and asked him if i could use the 60% coupon on my phone for two separate transactions. In a very rude tone he told me "i will not allow you to use the 60% coupon more than once today". I thought maybe i need to go back in the ***, i did so, when my turn came again he was loud and rude while repeating the same thing. I told him i have previously used the same online coupon more than once in a day and i was genuinely confused. I felt insulted by the tone and humiliated infront of the other customers. If this is the way they treat their customers, they just lost my business. Mind you i shop at your store on a weekly basis. I will now take my business online to fabricmart, emmaonesock, fabric.com and for notions i can always use my amazon prime. I am patient i can wait for my online purchases. I have given this store my business for the last 10 years, i guess it is time to move on. I would like to clarify that the other staff at this store have always been very helpful.

Customers cannot use the same coupon for different transactions. The store I worked at got in a lot of trouble for allowing customers to do so.

The store you were at could have gotten in the same kind of trouble and the manager was there monitoring how the coupons were used. He shouldn't have been rude, but he was just reinforcing corporate policy.

Hello, today my friend and I went into JoAnn fabrics to buy two not very large pieces of fabric to make a pretty awesome tie blanket. We spent our time looking around for the PERFECT fabric and finally found two designs that my friend fell in love with.

We needed the fabric cut out so we went up to the counter and there was no one to be found. We walked around the store like lost dogs obviously looking like we needed some help but there was only one person working that we could find and she was helping people who diddnt take a number. That was when it was too much. We took a number and waited our turn and she was still helping people before us.

Then when we finally got some help she cut it out and had the AUDACITY to tell us two and a half yards of fabric was 36 dollars.

Even if I was rich enough to blow my nose with 100 dollar bills I would NEVER spend 36 dollars on two yards of fabric. Today you lost two customers and we will be taking our business to Walmart.

Wow, you sound like such a spoiled brat. There are other customers besides you, learn to be patient.

Also, how dare YOU for not looking at the price of the fabric, then getting upset with the employee.

They don't make the prices. Grow up.

Guest

It's your fault for not looking at the price of the fabric before bringing it up to the table. Or You could have at least asked the person at cutting counter for a price check before getting it cut.

Also you have to remember that you are not the only person in the world, there were other people in the store that needed help to so you have to wait your turn. You are a spoiled brat and should stick to shopping online.

Guest

****GASP****

That ***!!! How dare she help someone who was there before you and not have a super special hidden extra employee just for you???

And then to tell you how much it cost for two and a half yards of fabric???

You came off like a spoiled rotten child.

You are exactly why customer service workers have bad days. Be glad the employee didn't accidentally fall and stab you with the scissor.

Please go to Wal-mart....you aren't going to impact anything taking your cheap *** over there.

Guest

Dear god, she had the AUDACITY to tell you the price marked on the bolt. The horror.

Why didn't she just make up a price that YOU would like? I mean, that sounds reasonable.

Guest

Not sure which fleece you purchased, but try to remember to look on the JoAnn website for coupons! Yesterday, July 21st there was a 65% off coupon on Anti Pill prints. The cut counter person should have offered that info to you!

I'm from one of the CA stores and it's really hard to stay on top of the number system

Unhappy with Management and cashier

Very Unsatisfied, have been long time customer. Shopped at store 06360-**** Had a 40% coupon that would expire on 8/18/16 item was only in silvertone, ask sales person if they had in gold tone, her reply was to check with other store 30 min. away. purchased the silvertone item and told that I would travel to there other store. She took and used my coupon tore it up and threw into the trash. I ask her that It was good until tomorrow and she told me it was a one time use, told her that I was to use the coupon at there other store, I was not done shopping. She and the Manager told me it was company policy and for me to use my smartphone to receive another coupon. I explained I don't have a smart phone, and they walked away from me. Sitting in my car and deciding to travel 30 min to another Joann or travel 30 min to Michaels. Explained to Michaels cashier and she pulled out a 40% coupon on her phone. Policy's are fine but don't cut my shopping short for ignorance.

the coupon literally says must be surrendered at time of transaction they are not going to risk getting in trouble for that

Guest

But... they did abide by their policies.

There was nothing ignorant about what they did.

Their coupons are for one time use, and they rip them up and trash them after. If you don't like that policy, don't shop there.

Guest

Generally coupons are one time use. Why would you think you would get the coupon back after using it?

Guest

Those employees did literally everything they were supposed to per policy and common sense. Do you often break the rules at your workplace?

Why would you expect another person to break the rules just for your sake? Get a grip.

TERRIBLE SERVICE

I stood in line to get my 1 selection of ribbon measured and cut with several people in line before me with several bolts per customer that needed cut. I waited for 15 minutes to get 1 little item cut. RIDICULOUS. Absolutely can't believe this store can't figure something out so customers don't have to wait every time they shop. I shopped at the Fargo ND store and they always have lines there. Why can't you have a separate line for people with fewer items. Joannas is losing business because of this. Read your reviews and act on them. You could have a good business if you listened to your customers.

This is what I read: "I'm more important that everyone else in the world so I should always get to cut to the front of the line and if I have to wait for anyone else to get serviced first, even if they were next in line fair and square then I will complain because I should get to go first because I'm sooooooo much more important than everyone else. There should be a special line to always accommodate exactly what I need, and screw everyone else. " Is that what you meant to say, because that's how you come off?

Guest

Any time you go to a store, out to eat, most public places, you have to wait for something. 15 minutes isn't that long.

Also, Joann Fabric doesn't have the payroll to hire people to have separate cutting counter lines. If you don't like it, don't shop there, but I guarantee you'll have to wait at the new store you decide to shop at as well.

Poor treatment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went to Joann's to buy a pair of scissors. I assumed it was safety issue for them to have them under lock and key.

A clerk had to help me unlock it. I was fine with that. When I held my hand out to take the box, the man clerk pulled it back and said it would be waiting for me at the register. He made me feel like a crook.

I went to the register and asked for the scissors. I said the clerk didn't trust me to carry them to the register. The girl at the register said and I quote, "Oh, it's not just you." So, it seems Joanns doesn't trust any of their customers. To make matters worse, they would not accept one of their own coupons claiming the item was not covered, even though it was not listed in the fine print with the exceptions.

I objected. The girl called a manager and was told not to accept the coupon. I left without buying anything, and I have promised myself I will Never shop Joanns again. This was not the first time they wouldn't accept their own coupons.

False advertising? Absolutely.

Scissors used to be the number one stolen object at Joann's. So they lock them up now.

Unfortunately sometimes the innocent have to suffer because of the guilty. Don't take it personally.

Joann Fabric Manager Review from Vancouver, Washington

I came to buy a couple of floralpics for a flower girl, which I did. I found lying on the floor a small pic, not in a package. There was no open package anywhere else near there. The manager walked over came back with a package of I guess a hundred or more, and said I would have to buy the whole bag. This, what I found I could have used for the little girls doll, or something, if you yried tp buy it, would have maybe 10cents. I buy alot of products at joanns, and I cannot believe she would say such a thing. Or, for joanns would subscribe to such a petty directive. This was at the 82nd joanns in portland oregon she also said she was todays manager. Thank you kristifindley@***.com

Joann Fabric Customer Care Review from Klamath Falls, Oregon

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Klamath Falls Oregon location. Had a 2 year old with me and my back was killing me to start off lol.. Grabbed a ticket for the fabric cutting counter, all I needed was some fold over elastic cut. Was skipped twice. People just went up to get their fabric cut, not bothering with a number. After the second time of being skipped and ignored I went up front to the registers and asked if they stopped using the number ticket system and if I could get someone else to come help cut my elastic, she shook her said and said no I just had to keep waiting. Went back, asked the lady at the fabric cutting center if they didn't use the tickets anymore, was told no we do, always grab a ticket... WTF?? Why didn't they call my number and skip me TWICE then? Then after she gave me the slip stating how much the elastic cost, I looked and noticed the price was three times that of what it said under where the elastic was. Showed the lady and was told "oh someone must have put it in the wrong spot." Seriously? I wasnt going to pay 24$ for elastic! I was expecting around 10$ for the 99 cents a yard it was priced at! (Other shops online sell for .40 cents a yard by the way) I literally only had $10 on me and had planned on using a coupon, but even with the coupon I had I couldn't have afforded it at that price. Not my fault it was priced incorrectly/in the wrong spot. Really though, Jo-anns needs to teach their employees better customer service, and well as figure out if they're gonna stick to the *** ticket number thing or not. Its confusing and extremely rude to customers who waited their turn. Figure it out!

The coupons do say that you cannot use on publications(which are magazines and books). I agree that the small print on all offers for every retailer are a pain to read, but I as a consumer accept the responsibility of reading this small print when I want to use a coupon that was given to me for free.

JoAnn coupon's state "exclusions appy", it is the customer's responsibility to read what these exclusions are. JoAnn did their part by informing their customer's that there are exclusions.

Guest

I agree-- anything you *cannot* use a coupon on should have a sign in front of it. I work there and it is irritating to customers and employees when someone walks up with an item and the coupon does not apply...

Most people don't read the tiny letters on the coupons anyway that say what the coupon excludes, but its especially annoying when it does *not* say something on the coupon. I know we would sell a ton more magazines too if you could use coupons on them!

Shame on you as an employee. You should know what your company coupons work on.

True it is frustrating when a customer gets upset about it but it is not the companies fault that the customer did not read the exclusions. And I have used their coupons and worked at JoAnn's for many years. They are quite explicit as to what their coupon's will and will not work on. I have never gone into any store that takes coupon's and seen a sign saying that you cannot use a coupon on this item.

That is what the exclusion statement on *Every Coupon* is for.

You should also know that the magazine's in your store belong to the magazine company and *they* do not allow coupon's to be used on their magazines. Know your product and you would understand the exclusions better.

3 times now I order some fabric online, takes 3 days to process then I get an email saying order was cancelled. Online the item changed to "available in store only". So I paid online, and during the time it was processing (3 days) the item availability changed and Joanns did not honor my purchase. I should've still been able to receive my order since at the time it was available online. I will no longer be a Joanns customer I cannot believe how unreliable they are considering there are tons of other places we can be getting fabric and supplies. Bye bye Joanns. HEY EVERYONE! If you need a reliable source of fabric-- go to Fabric.com, orders $35+ always ship free, they process and ship within 24 hours, and if they run out of something they will notify you when it's back in stock.

Joann Fabric Cashier Review from Denver, Colorado

I was at the joanns on sheridan Ave in Westminster colorado today. I had a very rude woman as a cashier. I asked a couple of questions regarding coupons, as i wasnt sure if they were good on clearance items. As i was paying for my items, she asked me if i was visiting. She said, "you must be one of those grammas that's visiting her daughter and granddaughter, and didn't know how to shop!!". I was so shocked, i just said, no i live here! I grabbed my bag and left! This woman has been rude before and very unprofessional,! I will not go back to that store. I shop at Joanns alot. I will find somewhere else to buy my fabrics and such!

The coupons say right on them that they are for regular-priced items, and as if that wasn't clear enough, they also explicitly exclude clearance items. Reading is fun!

I ordered a large quantity of fabric online. I thought it was a heavy outdoor home decor fabric since that is the section I ordered from. It ended up bring a little bit more of a burlap feeling fabric, which still worked for what I used it for. The color was perfect. I thought it was a shade darker when I ordered it, but I am very satisfied with the color. It shipped and arrived later than promised, but i was not in a rush so it was not a big deal to me. Order a lot earlier than you need the fabric and double check what the fabric is made of. I will order from their online store again.
