I used to work at a JoAnn Fabrics store and am amazed at how rude people are. First of all, read the dang coupons!

I can't even begin to tell you how many people I have come across that has tried to use a coupon specifically for a regular priced item on a discounted item! We would love to substitue your coupon over the discounted price but we can not therefore, stop being such a baby about it! I have even had customers rudely and sarcastically ask me what they're supposed to use their coupon on when everything in the store is discounted. Um, no.

I will gladly walk around the store and show you the loads of things that are regularly priced and that you may use your coupon on thank you very much :)

I also have had customers complain that we don't have enough people working in the store to help customers. Well has it ever occured to you that it is not our fault or in our control?

There is only so much pay roll and maybe if we weren't so busy dealing with such rude customers and having to put everything a customer "decided not to get" back in it's place - maybe we'd have time to help. Not to mention the loads of trash and misplaced items found throughout the store from customers...

I hear you. I quit during the holidays last year.

finally found my out. i took this job as i was desperate for money. fresh out of college with two degrees and no one would hire me. so i see this place, hey, crafts i like that.

didn't realize what that entailed. i was the only cashier all day from 9-5. had to beg for breaks. hours were constantly cut.

minimum wage pay. snotty customers. but about 80% were amazing, kind, and repeats who would just come and wait on me to check them out. if you were kind and amazing i would make your experience amazing.

however, if you weren't...i tried. we worked to the max with a staff of three people. it got so bad, no one would come in. some peoples hours were cut to only 1 day a week.

if you complained about anything , yours were cut. coworkers were snotty sometimes. would fight over hours. back talking, and having credit stolen from you was constant.

would be berated for not finishing stocking, email sign ups, etc.... no one wants the emails. there is so much going behind the scenes that it's amazing. covid was a nightmare.

fights broke out in lines, we weren't getting stock... we had gotten a raise of $2 but that magically disappeared as our hours .

workers were amazing, and the customers...oh man...some of the things people do is extraordinary. its the company that has issues.

You're rude. The fact that you don't even work there anymore, but are here exuding the typical attitude that you run into as soon as you walk in that store, speaks volumes.

I don't know if you know this or not but customer service means to service the customer..and if you don't like your job, spare us the belligerent mellow drama and find another one. Maybe we're rude because we spend our time walking through your store hearing snarky remarks and crass bluntness at simple questions from your fellow co-workers, which is evident through review after review here. You're job isn't difficult and I'm sure it would be easy to replace you for a smiling substitute. There are plenty of people out there that need a job and will do it without the "woe is me!!

God is so unfair for actually making me work when I go to work!" Hey, think of it this way, if people weren't coming in to ask you questions and present coupons, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE A JOB, but oh wait, you don't work here. So why are you hanging on if it made you so miserable??

Be done with it already.

I hope you got your parents permission before posting online, you are the kind of customer she is talking about, your reply was rude. Why do people like you have to act like a five year old who missed her afternoon nap? You are an adult start behaving like one.

I don't know if you know this, but customers are just as replaceable as the workers. For every 1 customer out of 10 that's as peeved as you are, there are 9 more that had a good experience and will come back and spend yet more money with us, and one of them will probably bring a friend.

But the truth of the matter is, if you read the reviews, both customers and employees are furious and have every right to be.

Both parties have a reason to be frustrated and angry and it just gets taken out on each other instead of looking at the real problem, which is the company itself. The corporate policies put in place, such as the coupon policy that alienates customers, the technology we're given to work with (which is painfully old), the inadequate training (which frustrates both customer and employee), the lack of rapid response from corporate in dealing with issues, the valuing of money over service, the constant cutting of hours and under-staffing the stores (which, again, frustrates both parties), and not empowering their workers to love their jobs as much as to just simply exist in them -- that's the real problem and it leads to *** experiences on both sides of the counter.

I just made a purchase. They had it on "sale" at $1 off per yard--- which means I couldn't use any coupons.

It was "on sale" for exactly that purpose. Absurd...

I work at the Joanns store in Kissimee, Fl and we deal with some of the worst people do to the area we live at.We have understanding people some times but most think thay are better than us.We have some here that love to leave open items in differnt places than thay should be.We have people that leave thare trash on shleffs, stolen open boxs or packets.Yes we should be nice to every one but when you are takeing care of someone or talking to someone and someone else interups you no woulder you get crapy service.I enjoy my job but yes that is retail for you.Wish thay pay better thats for sure but like all stores have guidelines thay have to go by.I fell your pain thought. The thing I hate is the store team leader get a bones for being under buget andI fell thay should give something to us as well. To close I think thay should give each store an its workers better discounts than the 20% we get.We should get around 40% and managers get 50% to help then out aswell.*** thaers time when guest better discounts than it workers.Dam shame

yeah.... i work at joann too and the coupon thing is annoying, but as for cleaning up/stocking/go backs/ and all that it really can't be helped.

it's part of the job really.

what really irritates me is when people don't read coupons and when they don't want to listen to the automatic messages on the phone cuz it tells them the location and hrs of our store, but they rather us tell them. the phone auto message allows us to fry bigger fishes, but that never happens if ppl ignore it and rather a person talk to them.

o.o but yeah.. there are some mean ppl out there...

well.. some good ppl too.

Remember with out the customers you would not have a JOB. Retail is DEALING with CUSTOMERS.

It is actually the low PAY that has you so down.

If you became a DR you would still have to deal with CUSTOMERS (PATIENTS) but then they are RESPECTING you!! Have a different outlook on life IT GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest

I feel your pain I work for hancock fabrics and we get the same type of customer. We always say we get paid to do aerobics at work because all we do is clean up after the slobs

Guest

I wholeheartedly agree with you about rude customers. I don't know if they are just ignorant or don't read the coupons to see what they can be used for.

Or maybe they think they can pull a fast one on the stores.

I kind of laugh when I read some of these complaints from customers about coupons not being accepted or for the stores that do price matching and don't seem to realize the items have to be exactly identical. To me it shows either that Americans are uneducated or trying to pull a scam on businesses.

If they are the age that they act, five, than they cannot read, how do you expect them to read the coupon when they cannot read simple words like "Go dog go?
